Joan of Art, the Litchfield Arts Council's entry into the 2026 Scarecrows in the Meadow

The Litchfield Arts Council is participating in the 7th Annual Scarecrows in the Meadow, presented by the Litchfield Historical Society in the Tapping Reeve Meadow behind the Tapping Reeve House and Litchfield Law School museums.

This year, our display features Joan of Art, designated as the patron saint of the Arts Council. Clad in armor and equipped with Robert Frost poetry, sheet music, paint, and palette, Joan stands guard in the meadow as a creative symbol of artistic inspiration and protection for our community’s arts initiatives.

Explore & Vote

The annual gathering brings together more than 50 uniquely crafted scarecrows created by local families, businesses, non-profits, and community groups. Visitors are invited to stroll through the meadow and vote for their favorites across several creative categories.

We hope you’ll take a walk through the meadow this fall, enjoy the creativity of our community, and stop by to say hello to Joan of Art!
