Charlie Sigler performs May 10 art Milton Congregational Church

This Mother’s Day, Milton Music invites you to step into the soulful, swinging world of modern jazz. On Sunday, May 10, celebrated guitarist Charlie Sigler brings his trio to the historic Milton Congregational Church for a special tribute to the legendary Oscar Peterson.

While Peterson was a titan of the piano, his trios were famous for a particular kind of magic: a seamless, high-velocity interplay between instruments that felt both effortless and electrifying. Sigler – a Jersey City-based virtuoso and a familiar face to the Litchfield Jazz Camp community – reinterprets that spirit through the warm, lyrical lens of the jazz guitar.

Having shared stages with icons like Christian McBride and Slide Hampton, Sigler is known for a “thumb-and-finger” technique that evokes the greats like Wes Montgomery, balanced with a contemporary edge that feels entirely his own. Joining him are two of the scene’s most respected voices: Jeb Patton on piano and Ahmed McLemore on bass. Together, they will explore the Peterson songbook, offering a performance that is as technically brilliant as it is deeply felt.

Presented by Milton Music, a collaboration between Litchfield Performing Arts and Milton Congregational Church, this concert offers the perfect post-brunch sanctuary for music lovers and families alike.

And while you have your calendar out, be sure to save the dates for the 31st Annual Litchfield Jazz Festival, returning July 24–26.

This year’s festival is a momentous double milestone, celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Litchfield Jazz Camp and the 45th year of Litchfield Performing Arts.

Set once again at the Frederick Gunn School in Washington, the weekend promises an extraordinary lineup of LJC faculty and distinguished alumni. From the high-energy Don Braden Dectet at the Friday Opening Night Gala to Saturday’s showcases featuring the Jimmy Greene Quintet and the Curtis Brothers Trio, the festival remains a masterclass in American music.

The festivities culminate in the much-anticipated Sunday Jazz Brunch with the Steve Kortyka Sextet—a local tradition that reliably sells out. It is a true summer highlight for our region, honoring three decades of the artists and educators who have made Litchfield a global beacon for jazz.

Head to the Litchfield Jazz Festival website for more details and tickets.
