Contemporary abstract artist and master colorist Steven Miller, a Litchfield resident, is having a moment regionally with simultaneous exhibits of his artwork at two venues in Litchfield center and the Five Points Annex Gallery in downtown Torrington.
Steven Miller “Recent Paintings” is on view through Aug. 3 at Alofft Gallery (860-361-6389) and his paintings are being shown through Sept. 3 at the Byrde + the b salon, shop and art gallery (860-619-0422) through Sept 3.
Both are located across from the Green on West Street in Litchfield center.
His exhibit at the Five Points Annex Gallery, located at 15 Water St. in downtown Torrington, continues through July 29.
Miller works in oils on canvas in combination with images inspired by nature, and he works in a series of paintings, usually working on two to three at a time, according to his bio.
“These works still hold a strong fascination for me and continue to provide me with boundless inspiration,” he says. “The work I produce is all about color, form and simplicity … . Life quite simply as a force of nature captured on canvas.”
Steven Miller has exhibited across the U.S. from New York to Los Angeles and in Europe from London to Cologne. He is a Vinalhaven Fellow, a Rubenstein Scholar, and a Parsons School of Design Scholar. His work has been featured in “Sex in the City,” on the TV sitcom “Frasier,” and in major Hollywood films.
His work is also in many private and public collections in the U.S., Europe and Asia, and in the permanent collections of the University of Virginia’s art museum and the Savannah College of Art & Design Museum in Georgia.
