Scarecrows in the Meadow

The Scarecrows are coming!

The Litchfield Historical Society has announced its 5th Annual Scarecrows in the Meadow. The scarecrows will be on display in the Tapping Reeve Meadow from Oct. 19 through Oct. 31 and open for visiting every day from dawn to dusk.

The Opening Celebration will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the meadow. Everyone is invited to explore the assembly of scarecrows created by local businesses, non-profits, and families. The opening celebration will feature a scarecrow making challenge, storytelling, and fall crafts and activities all day.

The event is made possible by the dozens of participants that give their time, energy, and creativity to create scarecrows. The historical society extends a special thanks to the gold sponsors, the Litchfield Inn, O&G Industries, and William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty, as well as the bronze business partners, Ace Hardware of Litchfield, the Clothes Tree, the Litchfield Prevention Council, and the Lost Fox Inn.

This event is free, and donations are appreciated. It is open to the public and no registration is necessary. The Tapping Reeve Meadow is located at 82 South St. For more information about this or other programs, please visit www.litchfieldhistoricalsociety.org/calendar
