OWL welcomes Budapest-based art historian and curator Ágnes Anna Sebestyén to discuss the Hungarian Museum of Architecture’s incredible collection, tracing Breuer’s journey from his early pioneering furniture designs to his monumental Brutalist architectural masterworks.Event Details:

Through the lens of a newly expanded bilingual collection—including recent acquisitions from Breuer’s historic cottage in Cape Cod and a significant donation from New York collector Michael Szarvasy—this lecture explores Breuer’s deep Hungarian roots and their intersection with his legendary American career. Attendees will get an inside look at rare furniture, architectural models, private books, and historical photographs that define Hungarian émigré culture in the United States.

About the Presenter: Ágnes Anna Sebestyén has spent nearly fifteen years researching and curating 20th-century modern architecture at the Hungarian Museum of Architecture in Budapest. She successfully coordinated the landmark 2025 acquisition of the museum’s Marcel Breuer Collection.
