almost Everything exhibit of paintings by Steven Miller at Alofft Gallery in Litchfield, CT

Alofft Gallery is presenting a new solo exhibition by contemporary painter Steven Miller. Titled almost Everything, the show features a powerful, cohesive body of large-scale abstract oil paintings that find their perfect home in Alofft’s light-filled, modern architectural space at 41 West St. across from the historic Green.

For Miller, the artistic philosophy guiding this collection is beautifully direct:

“The work I produce is all about color, form and simplicity.”

Capturing almost Everything Through Color

While Miller has tackled diverse artistic genres throughout his career—deeply rooted in the rigorous classical principles of the 19th-century French Academy—this current exhibition captures an artist operating at the peak of his expressive abstract powers. The gallery’s curation zeroes in on works that abandon literal representation to let color and texture tell the story.

The results are varied yet deeply unified. In some pieces, like the high-energy 2026 oil-on-canvas I’m On It, (shown below), Miller employs quick, rhythmic, tactile brushstrokes where fiery crimsons and deep cerulean blues collide. In the title piece showcased on the exhibition announcement, almost Everything, the style softens into a luminous, atmospheric masterclass. Glowing washes of amber and golden orange form a radiant backdrop for fluid, organic currents of emerald green and delicate pinks.

By stripping away the clutter of the physical world down to pure form, Miller ironically manages to capture the weight, light, and emotion of, well … almost everything.
