The Litchfield Jazz Camp Talent Search returns for its third year, offering young musicians (ages 13–17) a chance to secure life-changing scholarships to the world-renowned Litchfield Jazz Camp.
If you’re a local student who lives and breathes music, or you know one, this is your moment to take the stage.
The Big Prize: Scholarships to Litchfield Jazz Camp 2026
Winners will attend the 30th Anniversary of the Litchfield Jazz Camp, held at the Frederick Gunn School in Washington.
- 1st Place: A full scholarship plus a free private lesson (Value: $2,000+).
- 2nd & 3rd Place: Significant scholarship awards to help fund your summer of jazz.
How to Enter: The Video Audition
The deadline to apply is fast approaching. All applicants must submit a video audition by Friday, January 23.
The Musical Requirement
All instruments and vocalists must perform “Straight No Chaser” by Thelonious Monk.
- The Format: Perform the melody, a 3-chorus solo, and the melody out.
- The Accompaniment: Perform with a live band (duet to quartet) or a backing track (like iRealPro or YouTube).
- Drummers: Must record with a trio or a drumless backing track. Perform a 2-chorus drum solo between the opening and closing melodies.
Registration: There is a $30 registration fee, but it is waived for families with incomes below $50,000.
Event Details: Live Finals at Litchfield Community Center
After the video round, 12–15 finalists will be invited to the live finals on Saturday, March 7, at 2 p.m.
The distinguished panel of judges includes Albert Rivera, Don Braden, and Vita Muir. The day runs from 2 to 6 p.m. when winners are announced.
This isn’t just a competition; it’s a community event. Finalists get the rare opportunity to perform a song of their choice alongside a professional world-class trio composed of Litchfield Jazz Camp faculty. These are the same artists who tour globally and record with jazz legends.
